Many of you already know this, but for the uninitiated, this is just a reminder that the core of what we do here at Karelia Kitchen is our smokehouse. Leif is the master of smoke. You can read more about him here in one of our previous blog posts.
The café really exists to showcase all the yummy smoked goodies that Leif comes up
with. These items are threaded throughout the menus and you’ll find our core
items featured a few different ways. Some smoked items are seasonal and come
and go as availability dictates. Others are experimental and Leif himself has been
known to hand out treats to those café customers up for trying something new. There are even a few secret menu items…meaning they aren’t obviously on display, but for
those who know to ask, we have you covered.
All of the smoked items are available for take out and most are displayed in our
retail case. As the weather warms and we all look to spend more time outdoors we
will be showcasing our retail smokehouse items with helpful serving tips and a few
recipes. Maybe you’re going to the cottage, the park, a road trip, barbecue, or
maybe you’d rather spend more time enjoying the sun than cooking. There are even items in the display case that aren’t smoked at all but have been so popular in the café that folks just had to have some to take home.
Here in Toronto we’ve done well this year in the weather department. No matter
how mild the winter, there is a time of year when we all just want to shed the layers
of clothing and #TakeItOutside.
