Musical Moments In The Kitchen #Mabon

September 25th, 2016Categories: Brunch, Culture, Music, Pagans, Reasons To Celebrate

This Sunday playlist is dedicated to those of the “Pagan Persusian”. The Autum Equinox – around Sept. 21- is the time to celebrate Mabon which is when The Goddess decends into the Underworld. With her departure, we see the decline of nature and the coming of winter thus we pay our respects to the impending dark

THe Green Man - Lord Of The Harvest

The Green Man motif and mythology has myriad variations which are found in numerous cultures across the ages around the world. Primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring.

In September, we also bid farewell to The Harvest Lord or The Green Man, seen as the cycle of nature in the plant kingdom.

From the moment of the September Equinox,
the Sun’s strength diminishes,
until the moment of
Winter Solstice in December,
when the Sun grows stronger
and the days once again
become longer than the nights.

Mabon, (pronounced MAY-bun, MAY-bone, MAH-boon, or MAH-bawn) is considered a time of the Mysteries. It is a time to honor Aging Deities and the Spirit World. Considered a time of balance, it is when we stop and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests, whether they be from toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our families, or just coping with the hussle-bussle of everyday life. May your Mabon be memorable, and your hearts and spirits be filled to overflowing!

The plot of our life sweats in the dark like a face
The mystery of childbirth, of childhood itself
Grave visitations
What is it that calls to us?
Why must we pray screaming?
Why must not death be redefined?
We shut our eyes we stretch out our arms
And whirl on a pane of glass
An afixiation a fix on anything the line of life the limb of a tree
The hands of he and the promise that s/he is blessed among women.
